SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, authorities detained many Hurriyat leadersand imposed restrictions in Srinagar, today to prevent various programmesin connection with 2nd martyrdom anniversary of youth Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
Burhan Wani was killed along with two associates by Indian troops in a fakeencounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on 8th July in 2016.
Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooqand Muhammad Yasin Malik had called for holding of special prayers forBurhan Wani and those killed by Indian troops during mass uprising eruptedafter his killing.
The leadership has also called for complete shutdown on Sunday and a marchtowards Tral, the native town of Burhan Wani where a public meeting will beheld on the day.
Indian police arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik after raiding his residence inSrinagar, today. The occupation authorities have put Syed Ali Gilani,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Zafar Akbar Butt and BilalSiddiqi under house detention or in custody.
The authorities also imposed restrictions in Nowhatta area of Srinagar anddid not allow people to offer Friday prayers in historic Jamia Masjid.
Addressing public gatherings in Tral, Pulwama, Islamabad and Srinagarareas, various hurriyat leaders paid glowing tributes to Burhan Wani andother Kashmiri martyrs.
They said Kashmiri youth were laying down their precious lives for a sacredcause and their sacrifices would not be allowed to go waste.
Meanwhile, India’s National Investigation Agency shifted the illegallydetained Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi, and her twoassociates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, from Srinagar Central Jail toNew Delhi on the charges of waging war against India.
In a statement, Joint Resistance Leadership called for a complete shutdownin occupied Kashmir, tomorrow, against the shifting of Aasiya Andrabi,Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi to Delhi.
The JRL condemned the action of NIA and termed it the worst form ofpolitical vengeance against the resistance leadership.
