Sindh Police launches crackdown against banned organisations seminaries, 56 facilities seized

KARACHI Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Sindh on Information, Law andAnti-Corruption, Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Wednesday saidthat the Sindh government has taken over the control of 56 facilitiesincluding schools, hospitals and Madaris previously run byJamat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FiF).

Talking to media the Advisor said that “as we know that federalgovernment under Anti-Terrorism Laws has declared JuD and FIFas proscribed organizations and decided to take control of all thefacilities run by these two banned outfits, according to a handoutissued here. ”

He said that the specific Madaris and public welfare facilities located inSindh have been taken over by the provincial government.

However, the provincial Advisor clarified that from now onwardsthe services at these schools /hospitals/ Madaris will continuefor general public by the government as per government protocolsadding that no person shall be denied the services being providedthrough these institutions.

Murtaza Wahab said that the staff of the institutions will continueafter due clearance and scrutiny as per standards and procedures ofthe government. Giving break-up of these facilities, the advisor saidthat 31 schools, 16 Madaris and 9 hospitals located in Sindh, havebeen taken over by provincial government.

He added that 10 schools, 9 madaris and 5 hospitals were located inKarachi division; 3 schools and a hospital in Hyderabad district; 2 schoolsand a madarsa in Matiari; a school in Jamshoro; 3 schools, 1 hospital inMirpurkhas; 4 schools in Sanghar; a school in Tando Allahyar; 3 schools anda Madarsa inBadin; 1 school, 2 hospitals and a Madarsa in Tharparkar; 1 Madarsa inNoshehro Feroz; 2 schools and 3 Madaris in Shaheed Benazir Abad; anda school in Kambar Shahdadkot.

The Advisor further said that committees have been constituted atprovincial, divisional (Karachi) and district levels tomanage these facilities in best interest of public.

He said thatprovincial committee will be headed by secretary home department aschairman and Additional IG Police Special Branch, special secretaryeducation, special secretary health and chief administrator Auqaf willbe it’s members.

The divisional committee for Karachi is only comprised of CommissionerKarachi as it’s chairman, while Additional IG Police Karachi and divisionalheads of education, health and Auqaf will act as it’s members.

Similarly, he said that district committees will be headed by deputycommissioner and district heads of education, health and Auqaf departmentswill be its members.The advisor said that these institutions will be run in the supervisionof Sindh government and all the expenses would be borne by the provincialgovernment.

Barrister Murtaza Wahab has appealed to the people to cooperate withthe government adding that Sindh government has taken over the controlof seminaries and welfare institutions affiliated with both the bannedoutfits and if anyone tried to create hurdles in this regard, willbe arrested.
