ISLAMABAD – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability ShahzadAkbar on Wednesday has hinted about reopening the Swiss bank accounts caseagainst former president Asif Ali Zardari.
He said that an agreement has been signed between Pakistan and Switzerlandon sharing of bank accounts details.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said thatfollowing the agreement with Switzerland, the government could get bankaccounts details.
He said that the agreement was government’s another great achievement,adding that the previous governments deliberately avoided signing an MoUwith Geneva.
The special assistant went on to say that Pakistan would start gettinginformation about bank accounts of its citizens from Switzerland within twoweeks time.
Shahzad Akbar said that former president and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP)co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s Swiss accounts have US$ 72 million, addingthat following the JIT report in Omni case, the government could knock thedoors of Swiss banks.
