*LAHORE – Marala hydropower project to be inaugurated on Monday (today).*
The hydropower project has been established at Upper Chenab Canal near HeadMarala Barrage over River Chenab with a total cost of Rs3.98 billion withthe supervision of the Chinese engineers.
The project has a maximum power generation capacity of 7.64 megawatts withfour turbines of 1.9 megawatts capacity each. The turbines made operationalafter successful tests conducted under the joint supervision of Chinese andPakistani engineers, concerned officials said.
The engineers will give a detailed briefing to the Punjab chief ministerabout the hydropower project during the inauguration ceremony.
The power plant would produce 50.3 million units electricity annually andwas linked with the national grid.
