ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikhsays the government has approved projects worth 250 billion rupees for theuplift of agriculture sector to enhance crop productivity and betterfarming.
He was talking to various stakeholders of agriculture sector in Islamabadtoday.
They discussed ways for ensuring competitive prices for the cotton farmersfor their produce in the coming season.
Talking to a group of foreign investors representing international banksand financial institutions looking to invest in capital market of Pakistan,in Islamabad today, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said the government hasovercome immediate challenges to the economy by taking right decision.
He said focus has now been shifted to accelerate the pace of growth bycreating an enabling atmosphere for businesses and boosting growth in keysectors such as agriculture.

He said we are expecting an over 3 per cent growth in the agriculturesector which has remained stagnant for the past five years. He said we arefurther injecting about 250 billion rupees in this sector to enhance cropproductivity and improve water management.
The delegation appreciated practical steps taken by the government tofacilitate businesses and improve the environment for encouraging foreigninvestment in Pakistan’s capital market.
