Ahmed Shahzad is better than Sachin Tendulkar, Sehwag: Former Cricketer

ISLAMABAD – Former Pakistani cricketer, Abdul Razzaq, has said that hadAhmed Shahzad continued to perform well and did just justice to his talent,he certainly would have left players like Sachin Tendulkar and VirenderSerhwag behind in numbers.

Razzaq was a part of a panel discussing Pakistan cricket on PTV Sports.

When the anchor asked about Pakistan’s players who have not lived up totheir potential and if he was sure about the talent and skills of theseplayers, Razzaq said, “Jee, bilkul hai. Mein kehta hoon, Ahmed Shehzadzabardast tha, yeh Sehwag aur Tendulkar jaise players ko bhi peeche chodsakta tha.” [Yes, of course. According to me, Ahmed Shehzas was a terrificplayer. He could have left the likes of Tendulkar and Sehwag behind.]

Anchor, in absolute shock: Hain??? [WHATTTT??]

To which, Razzaq said, “Aisa ismein talent tha shuru mein.” [That I thoughtduring Shehzad’s career’s initial days.]

“I have seen him from the beginning of his career. He was extremelytalented. Even Umar Akmal was talented.

They have been victims of the system of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB); theyfail in a match or two and they lose their place. So, according to me, whena player gets a chance, he should play freely and give his hundred percent.

The way the duo of Shehzad and Umar began their respective careers, I havealways rated them high in talent but I would just blame them for spoilingtheir games,” Razaaq, who played 46 Tests, 265 One-Day Internationals(ODIs) and 32 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) for Pakistan, said.

Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad have been in and out of the Pakistan nationalside, mostly, because of their inconsistency issues.

Making things worse, last month Shehzad failed a dope test and risks aminimum suspension of three to six months for violating the anti-dopinglaws.
