Pakistan Navy achieves strategic milestone

KARACHI – Pakistan Navy has attained capability to shoot down any enemywarship from a standoff distance with the latest test of the cruisemissiles.

Pakistan Navy has become among the few Navies of the world to acquire thecruise missile technology.

The Pakistan Navy on Monday successfully tested an anti-ship cruise missilein the north Arabian Sea, said a statement released by the PN.

The anti-ship cruise missile, the C-802, was fired from both the JF-17Thunder aircraft and an F-22P frigate, validating the concept of jointsea-air offensive operations.

Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Chief of Naval StaffAdmiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi witnessed the test firing from onboard PNSNasr.

“Missiles launched from both platforms, successfully hit their intendedtargets which not only re-asserts the efficacy of the weapon systems butalso manifests the extended range of Joint PN-PAF Sea-Air operations anddesired synergy between the two services,” said the statement.

The missiles were fired on the final day of Exercise RIBAT-18, which wasfocused on validating warfighting concepts under the evolving multi-facetedthreats.
