Atleast 406 Taliban fighters surrender to Afghan Forces joining peace process

KABUL (AT News): At least 406 Taliban militants have surrendered to theAfghan security forces in three western provinces within one month,ministry of defense said on Tuesday.

Ministry’s spokesman, Fawad Aman said that 59 Taliban fighters laid downtheir arms and surrendered to the Afghan National Defense and SecurityForces (ANDSF) in Shahrak district of Ghor province and Chesht-e-Sharifdistrict of Herat province on Monday.

Other six were surrendered in Qades district of Badghis province yesterday(Tuesday), Mr. Aman told Afghanistan Times. Among 406 Taliban fighters, 343of them surrendered in Ghor, 57 in Herat and six others in Badghisprovinces, the spokesman added.

Mullah Naser, Mullah Salahudin and Jan Feda – three local commanders ofTaliban were also among the surrendered militants. In the past over onemonth, around hundreds of IS, also known as Daesh fighters had surrenderedto the Afghan security in eastern Nangarhar province.
