American Military drones reportedly shot down

BEIRUT, LEBANON – The Russian military may have shot down two drones thatbelonged to the U.S. Armed Forces in the eastern Mediterranean last night, the Russian aviation website Avia.Prolink reported. You Will Forever Remember Your Special DayInspiredotlinkAds by RevcontentFind Out More >

“A few hours ago, two unmanned aerial vehicles, coming from theMediterranean Sea, tried to attack the Russian Hmeimim Airbase. Conclusionson this subject are motivated primarily by the fact that it was at thistime that the American military aircraft Boeing P-8A Poseidon was flying asclose as possible to the Russian military airbase, especially since such aboard had already been used to attack the Hmeimim Airbase, which wasconfirmed by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of the RussianFederation,” they said.

While last night’s reports did mention anything about an attack on theairbase, the Russian military did say the drones were approaching Hmeimimfrom the eastern Mediterranean.

Typically, when the jihadist rebels attack the Hmeimim Airbase, the dronescome from the Idlib countryside; however, in this instance, the drones camefrom the opposite direction.

“Experts do not exclude that the main motive for the attack was not so muchdamage to the infrastructure of the Russian military airbase as an attemptto check the operation of the radar of the Russian S-400 air defensesystems for airspace violations from the Mediterranean Sea, which, mostlikely, would allow the United States to obtain data on used radarfrequencies operating in active mode,” Avia.Pro added.link

If the Russian military did in fact shoot down U.S. drones, this would markthe first time during the Syrian conflict that they have downed anyAmerican aircraft.
