US to suspend security assistance to Pakistan targeting CSF

The Trump administration says it is suspending security assistance to Pakistan targeting the Coalition Support Funds that the US pays to Pakistan to reimburse it for its counter-terrorism operations.

Pakistan maintains that the billions it has received from the U.S. were mainly reimbursements for supporting U.S.-led coalition forces that invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to topple the Taliban regime that sheltered Al Qaeda.

The new action targets payments of so-called Coalition Support Funds that the US pays to Pakistan to reimburse it for its counter-terrorism operations. Those funds are typically paid later in the year, and already require US certification.

The move comes after President Trump’s baseless allegations against Pakistan. Pakistan with one voice has rejected President Trump’s accusations.
