Federal Minister for Education dismissed media reports over Schools closing

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood dismissed onFriday reports that education institutions will remain closed till October.

In a tweet on Friday, the minister said that fake accounts in his name arespreading this false news and they are not true. “Education ministers willmeet on 7th to finally decide with likelihood of opening on Sept 15 in aphased manner,” the minister said.

In July, the government had announced its decision of reopening schools onSeptember 15. However, the government contended that they will first reviewthe coronavirus situation in the country before reopening all educationinstitutions.

Mahmood has announced that all schools once they open, will have tostrictly follow guidelines provided by the government. He also said a finaldecision will be taken on September 7 on reopening schools.

Pakistan has so far recorded 297,512 coronavirus cases and 6,335 deaths.
