ISLAMABAD – The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) will meet in Bangkokfrom September 9-10 to discuss Pakistan’s progress report, which would formthe basis of a definitive decision on Pakistan’s fate in October, claimed areport published in *Business Recorder.*
According to the report, the purpose of the meeting is to determine whetherPakistan will remain in the grey list or be blacklisted. The report furtherstates that the government has made considerable progress in complying withFATF.
An official of the finance ministry, according to the report, claimed thatPakistan has initiated lobbying to block any move against Pakistan,possibly by India, to get it blacklisted.
“The present government has taken various measures against money launderingand FATF cell has been established in federal board of revenue to ensureeffective and timely implementation of measures against terror financingthrough currency smuggling.”
