ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan on Tuesdayresigned from the post of advisor to the prime minister on parliamentaryaffairs.
“Upholding Prime Minister Imran Khan’s promise with the nation, I resignfrom the post of advisor to PM on parliamentary affairs so that I maydisprove allegations levelled [against me] in the NAB reference,” readBabar’s resignation letter.
However sources revealed that Babar was not willing to resign from thepost, however, he was forced to do so by PM Khan.
“Becoming the advisor on parliamentary affairs was not Babar’s first choiceas he had kept his eyes on the coveted slot of Law minister.
He had only accepted the position after Dr Farogh Nasim had been chosenover him,” they said, adding that differences between the prime ministerand his advisor had surfaced after the incident.
“Following the filing of a corruption reference against Babar, the premierleft him with no other option but to step down,” sources said.
