Balasore: Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sundaysuccessfully test-fired Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile (QRSAM) airdefence system.
The air defence missile system was tested from Balasore flight test range.
The missile, with a strike range of 25-kms, is being developed by the DRDOfor the Indian Army. The all-weather, all-terrain missile with electroniccounter-measures against jamming by enemy aircraft can be mounted on atruck and stored in a canister. Earlier this year, on February 26, tworounds of tests were successfully carried out.
The two missiles were tested for different altitude and conditions.
The test flights successfully demonstrated the robust control, aerodynamics, propulsion, structural performance, and high manoeuvringcapabilities thus proving the design configuration. “Radars,electro-optical systems, telemetry, and other stations have tracked themissiles and monitored through the entire flights. All the missionobjectives have been met,” an official statement had said then.
Another test of the missile was conducted on July 3, 2017. The missile wasfirst tested in June 2017.
