NEW DELHI: A high level Chinese military delegationlink> led by theDeputy Commander of China’s Western Theatre Commandlink> arrived at Suknalink> on Tuesday and will interact withtheir counterparts at the headquarters of the Indian Army’s 33 Corpslink>, whichis tasked with guarding the contentious Doklam region, Economic Times hasreported.
The delegation led by Lt Gen Liu Xiaowulink>, the Deputy Commanderof the Western Theatre Command, arrived in Delhi on Monday. The visitconsisting of 10 members is in India until July 6. They met their Indiancounterparts in Delhi. Officials also said that the delegation met IndianArmy Vice Chief Lt Gen Devraj Anbulink>.
An army statement issued today said, “In consonance with the vision of thePrime Minister Narendra Modilink> and the Chinese PresidentXi Jinping during Wuhan summit, where both leaders reaffirmed the need tostrengthen bilateral ties, a high level Chinese Army delegation led by LtGen Liu Xiaowu, Deputy Commander of Western Theatre Command arrived atSukna yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).”
The delegation before arriving at Sukna, visited Agra. The visit is beingseen as a major initiative to strengthen relationship between themilitaries of the two countries. “The delegation comprising 10 seniormilitary officials from China link> willinteract with their military counterparts at HQ 33 Corps,” said thestatement.
