Pakistan Foreign Reserves witness massive surge

KARACHI Total liquid foreign reserves of the country stand at dollars17.398 billion, said the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

SBP’s weekly statement issued here on Thursday said that on March 29,the foreign reserves held by the State Bank amounted to $ 10,492 millionand the net foreign reserves with Commercial Banks amounted to $ 6,905.6million.

During the week ending March 29, SBP received inflow of RMB 15 billion(Chinese currency) equivalent to $ 2.2 billion as proceeds of the loanobtained by the government of Pakistan from China.

After taking into account the outflows relating to external debt andother official payments, SBP reserves increased by $1,931 million duringthe week.
