Qatar has announced to withdraw its membership from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
The Qatari Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi said today that the country has communicated its decision to OPEC.
He said the decision will be effective from January next year.

He said the decision came after Qatar reviewed ways to enhance its role internationally and plans long-term strategy, including focusing on its gas industry.
