Pakistan’s largest Solar Wall inaugurated

ISLAMABAD – In his effort to equip the Punjab province with renewableenergy resources, Provincial Minister for Energy Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Malikhas recently inaugurated Pakistan’s largest solar wall at Centre for EnergyResearch and Development (CERAD), University of Engineering and Technology(UET), Kala Shah Kaku Campus.

This solar wall installed at the UET KSK campus will generate 410-kilowattenergy. Pakistan’s energy sector was currently facing a severe energycrisis, therefore, the government’s focus is to introduce alternativesources of electricity production to overcome this major problem, saidMinister for Energy, Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Malik.

Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Aziz Akbar, other university’officials and faculty members, and students from various universitydepartment were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

Dr. Malik emphasized that the use of solar energy is eco-friendly and saidthat they would have to “focus on utilization of renewable energy in thecountry to strengthen the economy of the country and to overcome the energycrisis”.

UET’s VC, Dr. Akbar while expressing his views on the recent developmentsaid that the academia can play a vital role in the government projects andUET’s solar wall project is a remarkable milestone in the field of energygeneration.

Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood, CERAD director also appreciated the efforts offaculty members for the mega project.
