*ISLAMABAD: *The sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) onMonday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) not to extend thecontract with Monal Restaurant, saying that the 2021 contract should beauctioned in the open bid.
The committee meeting was held under the convenorship of the member ofNational Assembly (MNA) Mian Abdul Mannan at the Parliament House,Islamabad.
Discussing the issue of Monal Restaurant, the committee members saidillegal handing over of land by CDA to Monal Restaurant was draining thenational exchequer.
The committee also recommended to the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) toreinvestigate the matter of Monal Restaurant and asked CDA to present itsreport within 14 days.
Audit officials told the committee that in 2007, CDA had given the land ofparks for the restaurant which was a violation of the rules.
CDA officials were of opinion that the land given to the restaurant wasprovided under public welfare and FIA had cleared the matter after aninvestigation. – APP
