Top Pakistani University bans female students from wearing jeans and deep neck shirts

LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) has enforced anew ban on wearing jeans and casual shirts for all its students.

In a recent directive, Institute of Business & Management of the UET hasissued a new dress code, according to which, male and female students wouldnot be allowed to wear jeans anymore.

According to this dress code, wearing a scarf and dupatta has been madecompulsory for the female students while wearing sleeveless shirts andcapri pants have also been banned.

UET issues new dress code for male and female students

A notification has been issued by the varsity in this regard according towhich the UET administration will not allow any student to appear on thecampus while wearing jeans.

It reads, “The following dress code being approved by the competentauthority will be observed from 11thMarch, 2019.”

Moreover, the varsity management has directed the male students to wearformal dressing. They have been directed to wear pant, shirt and coat,according to the notice. The male students have been asked to wear shalwarkameez on Fridays.

The female students, according to the notification, cannot wear deep necks,sleeveless shirts, tights, skinny jeans and capri pants.

“In case of violation, Rs 5,000 fine will be imposed and [the offender]will not be allowed to attend the class that day,” the notification reads.
