ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan and his delegation today visited themausoleum of great Sufi saint of the Muslim world Maulana Jalaluddin Rumiand paid homage to him.
He laid floral wreath on the mausoleum and also offered fateha.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan was warmly received by Governor Konya MrCüneyit (Junaid) Orhan Toprak, Deputy Mayor Mithat Buyukalim, Ambassador ofPakistan Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Garrison Commander and senior Turkishofficials at the Konya airport.
In his brief meeting with the Governor Konya, Imran Khan said the people ofPakistan have great love for the people of Konya and hold MaulanaJalaluddin Rumi in great reverence. He said the spiritual message ofMaulana Rumi has served to unite humanity from all religions and all walksof life.
The Prime Minister said the national poet of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbalwas the spiritual disciple of Maulana Rumi. He said Iqbal’s philosophy hasbeen inspired by Rumi’s message of love and self-individuation.
The Prime Minister said we take pride in our exemplary brotherly relationswith Turkey. He said efforts are being made to take this relationship tonewer heights.
He also visited the symbolic grave of Allama Muhammad Iqbal located inMaulana Rumi’s graveyard and he mixed with the local people.
Later in the evening, the Prime Minister will address leading Turkishbusinessmen at an event organized by the Union of Chambers and CommodityExchanges of Turkey (TOBB) in Ankara.
Like FPCCI of Pakistan, TOBB is the highest entity in Turkey representingthe private sector having 365 member associations from local chambers ofcommerce and industry.
The Prime Minister is visiting Turkey at the invitation of TurkishPresident Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Foreign AffairsMinister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Finance Minister Asad Umar,Planning Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar, Prime Minister’s Adviser onCommerce Abdul Razak Dawood and Special Assistant to Prime Minister onOverseas Pakistanis Zulfikar Bukhari.
