Pakistan unveils 1 billion Emergency Plan for Polio Eradication

ISLAMABAD – A meeting of Central Development Working Party was held inIslamabad on Thursday with Minister for Planning and Reform Makhdum KhusroBakhtyar in the chair.

The CDWP recommended 2nd revision of Emergency Plan for Polio Eradicationworth 986.3 million dollars.

The forum was informed that polio will be eradicated from Pakistan by theend of 2019; however two years would be required for follow up and completeeradication of its core reservoirs.

The Minister observed that polio eradication is a national priority and itneeds a holistic action plan to ensure zero polio cases in Pakistan as pernational and global commitments. The project was provisionally recommendedto ECNEC for approval.
