Planning Minister Asad Umar launches startup programme for Pakistani youth

ISLAMABAD – Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said theyouth, being the asset of the country, will be fully facilitated to starttheir businesses.

Addressing soft launching of Startup Pakistan Program in Islamabad onMonday, he said this initiative will create jobs and enhance economicactivities in the country in an inclusive, scalable, and sustainable way.He said one million students will trained through 10000 startup programs by2023.

Asad Umar said jobs are being created by small entrepreneurship in theworld and Pakistan will be successful in it.

He said the youth should adopt “think big start from small” approach forsuccess. He said this program will be expanded across the country.

Addressing the event, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth AffairsUsman Dar said that this program will make the trainees job providers notjob seekers.

He said this program offers funding, mentorship, training, and a variety ofperks and benefits with the aim of providing entrepreneurs.

He said one million youth applied for the loans under the Kamyaab Jawanprogram in the first fifteen days of the launch.

Of these, about six hundred thousands were those who wanted to start a newbusiness. This program is also unique as about two hundred thousand femaleshave also applied for the loan.

The Special Assistant said Prime Minister will soon distribute chequesamongst the applicants.

Usman Dar said the government is also introducing Skill for All andInternship programmes to enable the youth stand on their feet. He said jobopportunities will be created both in the government and the privatesectors.
