SRINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, 38 Kashmiris including two women and threeyoung boys have been martyred during the ongoing 4-month siege and lockdownby Indian troops.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during lockdown of those martyred sevenpeople were killed in fake encounters or custody, while 853 people werecritically injured in the firing by troops on peaceful demonstrators.
At least 11,400 Hurriyat leaders, activists, politicians, traders and civilsociety members continue to remain in jails or under house arrest.
The troops molested and disgraced thirty nine women during the period.
The Indian occupation authorities did not allow people to offer Fridayprayers at historical Jamia Masjid in Srinagar since August 5.
Restrictions under Section 144 continue to remain enforced while internet,prepaid mobile and text messaging services also remain suspended.
On the other hand, agitated by continued ban on mobile internet service inJammu region, Panthers Party activists led by its chairman, Harsh Dev Singhalong with other leaders, staged a massive protest demonstration atExhibition Ground in Jammu.
Meanwhile, Indian forces launched massive cordon and search operations inKulgam,, Islamabad and Pulwama districts.
Personnel of Indian army, Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Forceand Special Operational Group are participating in the operations.
Two youth after being booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act, on thecharges of organizing anti-India protests and stone-pelting were shifted toSrinagar Central Jail.
Jammu-based Hurriyat organizations at a meeting in Islamabad expressedconcern over the ongoing military siege and suspension of mobile andInternet services and shortage of food and medicines in Kashmir Valley andthe Muslim-majority areas of Jammu region.
Meanwhile, Japan has asked for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir disputethrough dialogue.
The demand was made by a spokesperson of the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
On the other hand, in London, a women’s conference on “Elimination oftorture against women with special reference to Kashmir” was jointlyorganised by Kashmir Women’s Movement UK and Europe and Sheffield SistersKashmir.
The conferences emphasised that atrocities of a supremacist regressive andextreme right Indian government in Kashmir must come to an end.
A video enumerating the atrocities committed on Kashmiri women by theIndian occupying forces was also screened on the occasion.
