Pakistan seeks intelligence sharing cooperation with Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD – First meeting of Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Working Group willbe held in Kabul on Saturday.

This was announced by Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal duringweekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday.

The Spokesperson said Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua will lead thePakistani delegation.

He said Pakistan had proposed five joint working groups which focus onensuring comprehensive engagement for countering terrorism, intelligencesharing, military, economy, trade and transit interaction, refugeerepatriation and connectivity.

Dr Faisal said Pakistan has always maintained that there is no militarypath to peace and stability in Afghanistan and only an Afghan led andAfghan owned peace process will ensure peace there.

He said the endless cycle of violence in Afghanistan for decades will onlyadd to the woes of people of that country including the Afghan refugees inPakistan who will not be able to return to their homes and reunite withtheir beloved ones.
