ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered multiple steps to enhancethe remittances coming in Pakistan.
PM Khan has approved a package for enhancement of incentives forremittances through legal channels. It was decided to increase airtime toRs. 2 against each USD received through M Wallet.
Prime Minister has directed that a new legislation should be finalizedwithin a week’s time to effectively deal with the offences related to moneylaundering and to further strengthen the existing laws to effectively checkhawala hundi and other illegal/corrupt practices that were negativelyimpacting the economy of the country.
The Prime Minister has also approved a package to further incentivizeremittance through legal channels.
The decisions were taken during a high level meeting at Prime Minister’sOffice with Prime Minister Imran Khan in chair.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Asad Umar, Attorney GeneralAnwar Mansoor Khan, SAPM Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, SAPM Iftikhar Durrani,Federal Secretaries, DG FIA, Chairman NADRA, Deputy Governor SBP and othersenior officials.
It was decided during the meeting that State Bank of Pakistan, being theregulatory authority in the banking sector, would take action againstelements who were involved in facilitating, opening and operation of fakebank accounts in the country.
