PM Imran Khan leaves for China tonight, several high profile agreements expected

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan will leave for Beijing tonight for afour-day official visit to China at the invitation of the Chineseleadership. Foreign Office spokesperson says this will be the firstofficial visit of the Prime Minister to China after assuming office inAugust this year.

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation including ForeignMinister and Minister for Planing and Development. The visit signifies thecloseness and traditional warmth which characterizes Pakistan-China allweather strategic cooperative partnership.

During the visit, Prime Minister Imran Khan will hold meetings with ChinesePresident Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. The two sides will review theentire range of bilateral relations which have enjoyed a long history ofmutual trust and support. The two sides will also sign several Agreementsand MoUs of Cooperation in diverse fields.

After his visit to Beijing, the Prime Minister will visit Shanghai toparticipate in First China International Import Expo, where Pakistan isexhibiting a wide range of export products. Prime Minister will be akeynote speaker at the inauguration of the Expo. On the sidelines ofShanghai Forum, Prime Minister will also hold meetings with other worldleaders.

He will also hold meetings with leaders of Chinese financial and corporatesector. Our Islamabad correspondent Tariq Ch reports that the traditionallyclose, cooperative and friendly ties between Pakistan and China are basedon shared principles and mutual interests entailing close cooperation indiverse fields. Both the countries maintain close and regular strategiccommunication for promotion of regional peace and stability and economiccooperation.

Economic and industrial cooperation between Pakistan and China expandedsignificantly after the launching of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.Prime Minister’s visit is expected to provide further impetus to enhancethe existing strategic ties between the two countries and break new groundsfor broadening the bilateral partnership.
