KARACHI – Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah and Opposition leader inSindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan on Thursday decided to appoint formerChief Secretary Sindh Fazal ur Rehman as the new caretaker CM Sindh.
Earlier they failed to arrive at consensus over the caretaker CM Sindh.
To resolve the issue, both leaders (CM and opposition leader) were leftwith few hours and if both aforementioned figures fail to make nomineetoday, the matter would be forwarded to parliamentary committee (Thursday)night after 12 AM.
After a single meeting between both leaders, deadlock still persists overthe unsolved riddle of caretaker CM Sindh.
Taking the notice of issue, Speaker Sindh assembly – Agha Siraj Durrani -has declared if deadlock persists, after 12 AM, a parliamentary committeewould be formed to resolve the conundrum.
According to election Act 2018, If both CM and opposition leader could notnominate a name then matter would be decided by parliamentary committee andif parliamentary committee also fail in resolving the issue then ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP) would nominate a name for caretaker CM.
