LAHORE – The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday annulled the nominationpapers prepared by the Parliament.
The LHC judge Justice Ayesha A Malik pronounced the reserved verdict on theconstitutional petition filed by law expert Saad Rasool challenging theSection 60, 110 and 137 of the Election Act 2018.
The judge while declaring null and void the nomination papers prepared bythe Parliament, ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) toprepare new nomination papers.
The court ordered the ECP to again add the requirements of Article 62 and63 of the Constitution in the nomination papers.
Earlier, the counsel of the petitioner while presenting his arguments hadsaid that the members of the parliament had not right to make changes inthe nomination papers as this is the responsibility of the ElectionCommission of Pakistan (ECP).
The ECP representative had also told the court that new nomination paperscan be prepared in seven days.
