ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s mathematical genius Syed Jaffar Raza has madehistory in the filed of mathematics in an international event.
He has won the gold medal at an international maths competition, beating600 participants.
Raza was one of the six participating students from Pakistan who won medalsat the International Math Challenge VII held at the Pan-Asia InternationalSchool in Bangkok.
The students of PakTurk International School Lahore brought home one goldmedal, three silver and three bronze medals. They attended the competitionwith their mentor and Vice Principal Khalid Zeeshan.
“Middle Section students win one gold, three silver and three bronze medalsin International Math Challenge VII Bangkok Thailand,” PakTurk Schoolproudly shared on social media. The school administration congratulatedparents, teachers and especially the students on the accomplishment.
The 14-year-old dedicated the success to his “parents, teachers, andmentors at the school for their tireless efforts.”
The school’s Vice Principal Khalid Zeeshan told Gulf News that “Raza is abrilliant student who has been securing top positions in NationalInter-Schools Mathematics Olympiads since class 4.”
Syed Jaffar Raza, studying in grade 8, belongs to an educated and lovingfamily, whose support helped Raza excel in the field of education.
A total of 180 teams belonging to 17 countries from around the world,including Romania, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka, competed at the event. Thecontest was held from February 22-24.
The International Math Challenge aims to encourage students to study andexcel in maths and critical thinking.
“Pakistan is not known for its expertise in math. But this globalcompetition has not only highlighted the talent of Pakistani students butalso give them a chance to excel at the most interesting subject in theworld,” said Zehra Nayyar, a mathematics teacher in Islamabad.
Previously, a young student from Jamshoro, Rajinish Aneel Bhati, also won agold medal in the competition.
