MIRPUR (AJK): A housewife embraced martyrdom and nine others including four women were grievously injured, five of them seriously, as a result of unprovoked shelling by the Indian army on the civil populous areas close to this side
of the Line of Control in Neelam valley district of Azad Jammu Kashmir on Monday, it was officially stated.
A handout issued by AJK Press Information Department (PID) Neelam Valley District said that Indian army resorted to heavy unprovoked shelling by violating the ceasefire on Monday targeting the civil populous areas, educational institutions and the government offices in the valley.
“As a result of the Indian firing a local lady identified as Asiyaa wife of Haroon embraced martyrdom on the spot and five other local inhabitants sustained serious injuries. The seriously injured were identified as 6-year-old student Misbha Jamil daughter of (d/o) Muhammad Jamil of village Bagna, Ms. Saddaf Zia d/o Zia ur Rehman, Kalsoom BB d/o Shafqat r/o Athmuqam district, Ms. Zermeen d/o Shakeel and Anser BB wife of Zaffar Mir resident of Ambore Muzaffarabad, Amir, Zulqarnain, Sajaad and Rafaqat.
The official handout said that some of the official and civil buildings were partially damaged following the unprovoked Indian shelling. The injured were rushed to the local hospital – where four minor injured persons were discharged after due Medicare.
The handout said AJK President Sardar Masood Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan have strongly condemned the unprovoked Indian firing on the civil population and the public and private buildings in Neelam valley district of AJK. They said in seperate statements of condemnation that India could not scare the population on LoC through such frequent cowardly acts of unprovoked firing and shelling targeting the civilian populous areas close to this side of the LoC.
