ISLAMABAD: Commodore Abdul Basit Butt on Monday was promoted to the rank ofRear Admiral, according to a press release by the Pakistan Navy.
In recognition of his meritorious services, Rear Admiral Butt has also beenawarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz (military).
He is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, National Defence UniversityIslamabad, and Turkish Armed Forces War College, Turkey.
Butt was commissioned in Operations Branch of Pakistan Navy in 1989. Overthe course of his career, he has served on various command and staffappointments.
Some of his significant command appointments include Commanding Officer 28Aviation Squadron and Commander Naval Aviation. Whereas, his distinguishedstaff appointments include Director Naval Training, Director NavalOperational Plans, Sector Commander Naval Intelligence (South), and NavalSecretary at Naval Headquarters.
He is presently serving as Director General Naval Intelligence.
