ISLAMABAD – Pakistan foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the primeminister Imran Khan made it clear to the US president that the region couldnot afford any other war as any imprudent action would draw drasticconsequences.
However, on the prime minister’s offer of playing his role to ease thesituation, the US president mandated him to talk with the Iranianleadership.
He said the prime minister would discuss the matter with the Iranianleadership to find a way out. During the Saudi visit too, the primeminister had viewed that the Iran issue should be resolved amicably.
To a question, the foreign minister said President Trump had expressedtrust in the prime minister’s leadership and hoped that second interactionwas also likely between the two leaders during the visit.
He said during the meeting, Trump had expressed concerns on the humanrights violations in the occupied Kashmir.
Qureshi said the world must know that India was the biggest hurdle in theregional peace. Even the Indian society was divided on their government’sactions in Kashmir, he added.
