ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan says completion of Phase-II of ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor will help promote further socio-economicdevelopment and livelihood opportunities for the people of Pakistan.
He was talking to Chairman National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu at theGreat Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday.
Imran Khan particularly noted that he wants to learn from China’sexperience of poverty mitigation and expressed his determination to reducepoverty in Pakistan by following China’s model.
He also solicited support of China in improving Pakistan’s agriculture andArtificial Intelligence sectors. He proposed that, given Pakistan’s uniqueadvantages, Chinese companies may relocate their industries to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister thanked China for its steadfast support to Pakistan onall issues of Pakistan’s national interest. He underscored that India’sillegal actions of 5 August have created a dire humanitarian situation inthe Occupied Kashmir. He urged that the curfew imposed for over two monthsin Indian Occupied Kashmir should be lifted immediately enabling people tohave access to basic human needs. He also highlighted risks for peace andsecurity in the region due to those actions.
Congratulating Chairman Li on 70th foundation anniversary of China, ImranKhan reiterated that Pakistan and China are close friends, steadfastpartners and ‘iron brothers. He Minister underlined that China’s economictransformation in last few decades has been very impressive and worthemulating.
Chairman Li Zhanshu reaffirmed Chinese leadership’s commitment to supportPakistan on issues of its core national interest.
He said China would support Pakistan in initiatives proposed by PrimeMinister Imran Khan.
Li Zhanshu also maintained that both China and Pakistan could propose newprojects that could be included in the CPEC.
Both leaders agreed to carry forward the momentum of bilateral visits andenhance parliamentary linkages to further cement Pakistan-China bilateralties. They also underscored commitment to enhance cooperation in political,cultural, educational and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Imran Khan invited Chairman NPC to visit Pakistan, whograciously accepted the invitation.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by Foreign Minister, Minister ofRailways, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Energy and othersenior officials.
