PTI government to follow public private partnership model for boosting economic growth in the country

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said creation of jobopportunities for youth and expediting economic process in the country isthe top priority of the government.

He said this while chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today(Wednesday), regarding starting various development projects inprivate-public partnership and expediting economic process in the country.

The Prime Minister said Pakistani youth is a valuable asset of the countryand there is a need to utilize their talent in a positive manner and out ofthe box thinking is required for this purpose.

Imran Khan said development process can be accelerated by governmentfacilitation of the private sector and utilizing least resources in variousfield like energy, infrastructure, tourism, and communication. He saidprojects worth billions of rupees can be initiated in this way. He directedministers and provincial chief secretaries to identify such developmentprojects in their respective departments to start work on them bysimplifying various laws and investing less financial resources.

Prime Minister directed to ensure partnership of private sector indevelopment projects and existing laws should be reviewed to providemaximum facilitation in this regard and remove bottlenecks to guaranteeoverwhelming participation of the private sector. He also highlighted theimportance of capacity building of ministries and provincial departments.

The meeting also identified various projects in energy, communication,aviation, tourism, logistics, technology, waste management, social sector,real estate, and other sectors, where development projects can bematerialized with partnership of private sector.

It was told that the government is trying hard to promote public-privatepartnership and maximum facilitation should be extended to ensurepartnership of the private sector and job opportunities for the youth.
