PTI government makes another positive achievement over exports front

ISLAMABAD: The export of readymade garments during the first half of thecurrent financial year witnessed an increase of 12.08pc as compared to thecorresponding period of last year.

During the July-December FY20 period, the country exported about 31.53million dozen of readymade garments ($1.411 billion) as compared to theexports of 23.83 million dozen during the same period of last year ($1.259billion).

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, textilegroup exports during the period under review recorded 3.94pc growth, from$6.644 million last year to $6.905 billion.

On a month-on-month basis, textile exports grew by 0.36pc in December 2019,from $1.138 billion in Dec 2018 to $1.142 billion.

During the first six months of the current financial year, the country alsomanaged to register a growth in knitwear exports, from $1.475 billion in6MFY19 to $1.587 billion in 6MFY20.

Similarly, bedwear exports inched up from $1.116 billion in 6MFY19 to$1.197 billion, while towel exports during the period under review alsoregistered a minor growth of 0.22pc, from $378.017 million to $378.846million.

It is pertinent to mention that during the period under review, exports inrupee terms surged by 24.82pc to Rs1.805 billion as against the exports ofRs1.446 billion during July-December FY19.
