ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan says construction of dams andensuring water security will help meet energy and agriculture requirementsof the country at affordable rate.
He was chairing a briefing on national water security strategy andconstruction of dams to meet agricultural as well as energy requirements ofthe country.
The Prime Minister said Diamer Bhasha Dam, after completion, will boostconstruction and provide a huge stimulus to national economy.
He directed that use of local material and expertise should be accordedpriority during the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam, which will providehuge job opportunities to our people.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over progress made so far anddirected to immediately start construction activities of the dam.
Earlier, the Prime Minister was briefed in detail about the progress ofresolution of all pending issues pertaining to construction of DiamerBhasha Dam.
Chairman WAPDA briefed the meeting about progress of ongoing constructionof Mohmand Dam that started recently.
The Prime Minister was also apprised of the progress on resolution ofpending issued related to Dasu Dam project.
The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of Ministry of Water Resourcesand WAPDA for pursuing projects passionately to realize dream ofself-reliance in food security, industry and exports.
