*ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan approved ‘Green Stimulus’ package aspart of government’s efforts to extend green cover in the country and tocreate job opportunities for the youth of the country especially in thewake of COVID-19 crisis.*
Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said that addressing climaticissues and enhancing green cover of the country was among the foremostpriorities of the government.
“Green Stimulus Package, especially the Green Nigehbaan initiative, willoffer employment opportunities to the youth and will help in promoting theobjectives of Clean and Green Pakistan. At the same time, the primeminister continued, it will enable daily wagers earn their living withdignity during recent situation arising out of COVID-19,” he said.
PM Imran Khan directed that all stakeholders, including provincialgovernments, international bodies should be engaged to enhance the scope ofthe program and create additional jobs.
He ordered Ministry of Climate Change to prepare a plan of action forengaging international community under Debt for Nature Swap program toconvert part of country’s debt into grant for greater plantation andenvironment protection activities.
