ISLAMABAD: Brain Drain from Pakistan to Gulf Countries

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Senate was informed on Tuesday that 2510 doctors and 3596 engineers got employment in Gulf countries during the last three years.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination, Riaz Hussain Pirzada replying to question said that 2,252,446 persons of different categories including Doctors, Nurses, Engineers and other skilled and un-skilled persons got employment in Gulf States during the last three years (2013-2015).

He said that Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development is making their best efforts to maximize the export of manpower from Pakistan to Gulf States.

In this regard Pakistan has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with different countries of Gulf States i.e. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE in the field of export of manpower.

The Secretary, Ministry of OPs& HRD visited Bahrain in November 2015 to persuade the Government of Bahrain to include Pakistan in the list of countries from where the Government of Bahrain recruits manpower. The government of Bahrain agreed, he said.
