PESHAWAR: (APP) A 35-member Chinese delegation of leading companies visited Peshawar on Saturday to have first-hand investment prospects information regarding the China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The investors mainly showed interest in business prospects related to trade, steel structure, infrastructure, industrial park, establishment of training institutes etc.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development & Management Company (KP-EZDMC) hosted a meeting of the Chinese delegation, led by Dr Ishak Ding Houfei, Chairman of the Council on Islamic Chinese Relations at a hotel.
During the meeting the Chinese delegation and representatives of KP-EZDMC discussed the projects that the Chinese companies and the company could jointly work on.
Few of the projects and the project areas the Chinese investors were interested in were initiation of fast train projects in the province, green-environment friendly industrial parks, developing the industrial hubs and establishing industrial units of automobile, home appliances and furniture.
Unique projects under discussion were aluminum manufacturing plants and optimization of the existing agricultural products in the province.
The Chinese investors of the Council on Islamic-Chinese Relations also mentioned the Silk Road Institute under construction in Islamabad, under which vocational trainings in various areas, specifically in gem stones would be provided.
Addressing the Chinese delegation, Chief Operating Officer (CEO), KP-EZDMC, Mohsin Syed said that the initiation of CPEC in the area was a wonderful opportunity for both the countries to maximize the trade activities and work towards the economic stability.
Taking the full benefits of the economic corridor the Government of KP established KP-EZDMC, prime objectives of which were the promotion of planned and rapid industrialization in the province.
One window operations specially designed by KP-EZDMC would facilitate the industries by solving all the issues related to getting a no objection certificate, providing uninterrupted power supply, trainings to skilled and unskilled labor, and availability of all amenities.
He said that KP-EZDMC was looking forward to jointly work on the projects discussed with the Chinese delegation in the meeting, create employment opportunities for the youth of the province and ultimately contribute to the GDP of the country.
