ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court has asked the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf to satisfy the court on three points – receipt of foreign funding, sources of funding and audit of amounts.

The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar heard the plea filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi against Imran Khan on Tuesday.

Chief Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that they want answers to some questions with regard to the foreign funding. “The main issue is about the Articles 6/3. Is it correct that some funds are prohibited under these sections,” he observed.

The court ruled that the Election Commission is not a court or tribunal and there will be no compromise on its powers.

Anwar Mansoor, counsel for the PTI, stated that no fund is prohibited. “There is a difference between the ECP and a tribunal,” he said.

The CJP said that how the ECP determines whether the funds are prohibited or not.

The ECP counsel stated that the PTI had not provided the record of foreign funding during the last four years.

Justice Faisal Arab said that the ECP had not demanded the record and the PTI did not provide it.
