KABUL – The Afghan national defense and security forces have arrested threekey members of the Taliban group during an operation in SoutheasternPaktika province of Afghanistan, Khaama Press has reported.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in a statement said Tuesday that themilitants were arrested from the vicinity of Zeruk district.
“Yesterday, three senior members of armed Taliban were arrested during anAfghan National Police ambush in the Zirok district, southeastern Paktikaprovince,” the statement.
MoI further added “One vehicle, one radio handset and some amount ofammunition seized as well.
The group was the main planner and organizer of terrorist and destructiveactivities, armed assault and explosions in different parts of Paktikaprovince.”
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgentshave not commented regarding the report so far.
Paktika is among the relatively restive province in southeastern parts ofthe country where the Taliban insurgents and militants belonging to theother groups including the notorious Haqqani terrorist network are activelyoperating in some of its remote and restive districts.
Earlier, at least one insurgent was killed and six others were woundedduring an airstrike in Barmal district of Patkika.
