KABUL – At least nine Taliban were killed in an operation by forces ofthe National Directorate of Security (NDS) in southern Helmand province.
The NDS said in a statement on Sunday than 18 more insurgents were wounded.
The operation was launched in Garemsir district of the province to clearthe insurgents. Three local Taliban commanders were also arrested, thestatement said.
“The forces have also seized some weapons and explosives during theoperation,” it added.
The statement did not provide further details of the operation.
