NEW YORK – American newspaper The New York Times has reported thathostility with Pakistan is not in the United States’ interest, and Americacannot fight against terrorists in the region without Pakistan’s help.
The report stated that changing relationships between both countries willincrease problems for the US. It said Pakistan can halt American access toAfghanistan at any time as every US flight passes through Pakistan to reachAfghanistan and the goods are mostly transported through Pakistan’s roadsand railways.
The article pointed out that China can take benefit from such a situation.It suggested the US to deal with Pakistan as an ally and continue to giveaid. The matter should be resolved through diplomatic dialogues instead ofyelling, the newspaper said.
However, the report also endorsed Trump’s narrative and alleged Pakistan ofputting the US in trouble by playing a double game. The article said USPresident Donald Trump did not assure in his message to Pakistan that hewill not worsen the relationships further.
