Afghan Taliban kill, injure 14 soldiers and capture three security checkposts

LASHKARGHA – Six security personnel have been killed and eight otherswounded in the Taliban attack on a check-post in the Nawa district ofsouthern Helmand province, a reliable source said on Saturday.

The Taliban stormed security check-post in the Surkh Doz area late onFriday night. Six policemen were killed and eight others injured, awell-placed security source said.

District police chief Amanullah confirmed the assault and said fivesecurity personnel had been killed and four others wounded. The militantsalso suffered casualties in the firefight, he added.

Taliban confirmed the incident. The group spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadiclaimed 15 security personnel had been killed in the overnight attack.

Ahmadi claimed capturing three check-posts and several weapons, ammunitions.
