KABUL – *China wants to provide assistance to the Afghan peace process asits capacity allowed, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunyingsaid. *
The Chinese official welcomed President Ashraf Ghani’s peace offer to theTaliban, the APP reported.
“China is willing to provide assistance to the Afghan reconciliation andpeaceful reconstruction process as our capacity allows,” Hua Chunying said.
She said China has often supported an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peaceprocess.
She said China calls on involved parties in Afghanistan to address theirdifference through dialogue and consultation, the report said.
Hua said China appreciates the efforts made by the Afghan government andPresident Asharf Ghani for reconciliation.
“We hope all relevant parties can work for the shared goal, enhancedialogue and consultations, discard difference and achieve the lastingpeace, development and stability in Afghanistan as well as possible,” sheadded.
This comes after Kabul hosted the second Kabul Process conference onWednesday in which the Afghan government sent a peace offer to the Taliban.
The Kabul Process meeting was a gathering of 25 nations and organizationsincluding the EU, UN and NATO, and discussed ways to attain peace andstability in the country.
