KABUL – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Pakistan’s Prime Minister ShahidKhaqan Abbasi held talks in Kabul on Friday where they agreed to seven keyprinciples to finalize Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace andSolidarity (APAPPS), TOLO News has reported.
The two leaders agreed to the following:
1. Pakistan to support the Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace andreconciliation,
2. The two countries to undertake effective action against fugitives andirreconcilable elements posing security threats to either of the twocountries,
3. Both countries commit to deny use of their respective territories by anycountry, network, group or individuals for anti-state activities againsteither country,
4. To put in place a joint supervision, coordination and confirmationmechanism through Liaison Officers (LOs) for the realization of the agreedactions.
5. The two countries commit to avoid territorial and aerial violations ofeach other’s territory,
6. The two countries to avoid public blame games and instead use APAPPScooperation mechanisms to respond to mutual issues of contention andconcerns, and
7. Establish Working Groups and necessary cooperation mechanisms as perAPAPPS for full implementation of the APAPPS and the above, mutuallyreinforcing principles.
The two leaders met on Friday at the Presidential Palace and discussedrelations between the two countries, the fight against terrorism, regionalconnection, Afghan-led peace talks, violations along the Durand Line,return of Afghan refugees, construction of railroad projects, prisonerexchange programs and the APAPPS, the Presidential Palace said in astatement.
