LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an urgent meeting withthe disgruntled PMLN leader Chaudhry Nisar.
He convinced disgruntled PML-N leader and former interior minister, ChNisar Ali Khan, to stay in the party and play his role.
After a year’s long sour ties between Ch Nisar and the party, it is thefirst meeting with Shehbaz Sharif since he took over the slot of PML-Npresident on March 13 last. The meeting which was scheduled last weekwitnessed a lot of positive development to retain Ch Nisar in the PML-Nwhich the former interior minister said is his mother party with35-year-long affiliation.
The meeting which continued for about 45 minutes at the Model Townsecretariat of the chief minister discussed various matters relating to thecurrent political situation, the party and the next elections withparticular focus on the grievances of Ch Nisar with the leadership.
Sources in the party say Ch Nisar expressed willingness to stay in theparty with respect and honour and without being discredited by those whothese days are close to the top leadership of the party and are speakingagainst him.
The sources say Ch Nisar reiterated his stance on adopting an agreeablerelationship with the institutions and not undermining their position inthe public speeches by the top and second-rate leadership of the party.
Media reports added the two leaders also discussed the issues relating toCh Nisar’s acceptance in the party after he publicly made remarks againstNawaz Sharif’s narrative and his refusal to work under Maryam Nawaz.
The sources stated the chief minister wanted both Ch Nisar and those aboutwhom he had reservations to avoid speaking against each other in theinterest of the party and the next elections. They said the meetingconcluded on a positive note.
