ISLAMABAD – In a bid to thwart pre-poll rigging, the Election Commission ofPakistan (ECP) has barred political parties from ‘self-advertising’ throughgovernment development projects or via the use of public money.

According to a communique issued by ECP, there is a ‘total ban’ oninserting personal images, party logos or names on advertisements ofgovernment projects till the general elections 2018.

Besides prohibiting personal promotion till upcoming elections, theelection regulator has also announced to uproot name plates installed onprojects completed after March 1st, 2018.

It was also directed by the commission that political figures shouldrefrain from self-propagation during the inauguration of projects, warningthat action will be taken against anyone found violating ECP’s order.
