BEIJING: China and Pakistan share an all-weather partnership and thedefence and military cooperation between the two countries would helpmaintain regional and international peace and security, Col Ren Guoqiang,spokesperson of the Chinese ministry of national defence said on Thursday.
“China and Pakistan share an all-weather partnership. We have maintained avery high level of defence and military exchange and cooperation,” he saidwhile responding to a question during his monthly briefing held here.
The spokesperson expressed the confidence that China-Pakistan militaryexchange and cooperation will help facilitate state-to-state cooperationbetween the two countries.
Ren Guoqiang said this exchange and cooperation will also maintain regionaland international peace and stability.
Regarding military exchanges and joint exercises between the two countriesin future, he said both the countries have been discussing it.
Earlier this month, Hong Kong-based newspaper reported that Pakistan hasacquired a powerful tracking system that could speed up the military’sdevelopment of multi-warhead missiles. The report stated that the trackingsystem could allow Islamabad to speed up development of missile that cantarget multiple cities or military sites.
Last year, China and Pakistan air forces conducted a joint trainingexercise “Shaheen VI” in September in China followed by a joint navalexercise between the navies of the two countries in December.
